Caring for our environment
Caring for our environment is crucial: we believe that we are stewards of the space that we occupy.
The cross that used to hang on the front of the building was removed for safety reasons and we couldn't afford to replace it: we talked & prayed for a solution. After hearing about children in Accrington building a classroom from 'eco-bricks', the congregation decided to create a new cross on an area of grass between the Church and Princes Avenue, giving this land a purpose and providing some environmental gain.

The cross is in the form of a raised wildflower bed approximately 14m by 4m supported by eco-bricks. The 200 ‘eco-bricks’ we made contain about 100kg of plastic taken out of the environment. The sides of the raised flower bed display their multi-coloured contents and the bed contains soil planted with a mix of wildflowers to contribute beauty and life to Princes Avenue.
